Curating Disability Justice

AISOS built an interactive virtual tour for the exhibition The Art of Disability Justice at the Mill City Museum gallery space for Art History 5950, Curating Disability Justice taught by Dr. Jessica Cooley. The virtual tour of the space accomplished two accessibility goals: (1) provide those who are unable to physically travel a way to experience the show; (2) give in-person attendees a way to navigate the space prior to visiting, ensuring they are better able to locate accessible resources for when they are in the space.
Additionally, AISOS also 3D scanned two ceramic pieces made by local artist Donna Ray. We assembled 3D printed replicas of her works. These replicas were included in the show. The 3D reproductions are be able to be picked up and handled by attendees, allowing them to interact with her work regardless of their visual abilities. As a visually impaired artist, Ray has expressed that the tactile nature of ceramics is integral to her process.
